Day 9Reykjavik

Today after breakfast, we check-out of the hotel and proceed to visit our most popular “Golden Circle Tour” – Iceland’s most popular sightseeing route. The Golden Circle is comprised of three major attractions: Thingvellir National Park, Haukadalur Geothermal Valley and Gullfoss Waterfall.

Thingvellir National Park is the only UNESCO World Heritage site on the Icelandic mainland and one of the three stops on the world-famous Golden Circle sightseeing route. Here, you can walk between the rift valley of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and explore an area which played a huge role in Iceland’s heritage; it was, after all, the original site of the world’s longest running representative parliament.

Next is the geothermal valley where you can see the geysers Strokkur and Geysir. Geysir is largely inactive now, but Strokkur erupts every ten minutes or so to heights of 20 m (66 ft).

Finally, a few kilometres away is Iceland’s most popular attraction, the mighty waterfall of Gullfoss. A pathway takes you right to the water’s edge, where you can get a real sense of the enormous, natural power of the falls.

Later witness an incredible tomato farm of Iceland and their gigantic green house. You won’t believe it, but Iceland has become pretty self-sufficient and grows an incredible variety of fresh produce. Using combinations of geothermal energy, naturally purified water and artificial light, Icelandic farmers have been mimicking bright, balmy spring days by using greenhouses. One such enterprising farm is Friðheimar, which specialises in growing cucumber and herbs, but tomatoes are truly their thing.

Later you’ll head by transfer to the healing, geothermal waters of the Blue Lagoon. Soak at your leisure in the milky blue, mineral-rich outdoor spa. Night Stay in Reykjavik.
